李漢良老師日前蒙主寵召,享年81歲。

其家人在2012年11月11日(星期日)晚上六時假紅磡世界殯儀館一樓恒基堂設靈,晚上七時至八時舉行守靈祈禱。並於十一月十二日(星期一)出殯,移送歌連臣角火化,禮儀將以天主教儀式進行。

李老師曾任教學校四十年,為李仲安老師的父親。各校友如有空可往鞠躬,以表追思,願主安慰其家人。

9 - Copy.JPG Mentoring Scheme 2012-2013
As the new academic year starts, it is time for the scheme to kick off. The opening ceremony will be held on 27 October 2012, 2-4 pm in the Geography Room at the new SJACS campus.

The registration is now on. Mentoring scheme aims to build up a channel for alumni to share their experiences and advices with current young Josephians. All mentors are encouraged to share their precious experience on studying, career development and personal pursuits with their mentees via gatherings such as casual gatherings, outings, or even office activities.

NOTICE OF GATHERING ON SATURDAY, 8TH SEPTEMBER 2012
Before we moved out of the old campus, the Josephian Association had managed to save various items of the school, including medals, trophies, chairs, etc. These items have been placed in storage up to now, and it has been decided that we should deal with them one way or another. This is why we are holding a gathering so that we can take the opportunity also to go through the items.

Prof. Ceajer Chan Ka-keung (陳家強) of class of 74’, has been awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in the 2012 Honour List in recognition of his loyal and distinguished service to the Government and the Hong Kong community, particularly in his capacity as the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury since 2007.

On Thursday, 31st May 2012, Mr. Andrew Li (SJACS’72) attended his last SMC meeting as the Association’s representative to the School Management Board of St. Joseph’s A-C School. Andrew has served in this capacity for some 3 years, devoting much of his private time to the School’s affairs and campus activities. His most treasured personal objective was to bring about a higher standard of English for our young Josephians. During the meeting, the Supervisor, Mr. Irving Koo, who chaired the meeting, acknowledged the contributions of the alumni and Andrew’s efforts during his tenure, and a vote of thanks was given. The meeting decided to take a picture as a memento.

HONORARY ADVISORS
On the evening of Monday, 9th July, 2012, the Board of the Josephian Association held a monthly meeting. SJACS’s Supervisor, Mr. Irving Koo and the Principal, Mr. Paul Yeung, were invited to dine with the Directors and other Josephians. The main reason for having these distinguished guests was to officially present them with certificates naming them respectively as Honorary Advisor to the Association.

Dear Josephians, On 19 and 20 December, 2011, St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School was the Grand Slam winner of the Join Athletic Meet of the Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan School (Secondary Section). There were 26 Catholic diocesan secondary schools competing for the Overall Championship. Our school won the Grand Slam because we were the winner of not only the Overall Championship, but also the Champion of all grades A, B and C. That was a clear cut victory. Our students have proved that they can achieve the highest. Ad Astra!

Last November, Henry Lau of the Class of 1962 paid a visit to the new campus. Henry was warmly received by Principal Paul Yeung, who gave him a guided tour of the campus. Henry was greatly impressed by the modern facilities. Thanks to Principal Yeung, we have made contact with Henry meanwhile.

黃國強君生於1956年卒於2011年6月,享年55歲。自少入讀聖若瑟小學,1975年在聖若瑟中英文中學中5畢業。畢業時就讀F.5A。在學時身手不凡,在田徑塲上又屢獲佳績,有領導才被推舉為籃球隊長,所以又名 “Captain 強”,及長則獨專高球,身形改變,生前好友稱他 “肥佬黃”。

WONG Kwok Keung, Anthony, a faithful son of the Josephian family passed away on June 12. Anthony was a stalwart of the watch industry, once Chairman of the industry’s Association. He served on the Board of the Josephian Association for many years, and is, perhaps, best remembered as a favorite master of ceremony at annual dinners. He will be sorely missed by fellow Josephians.

After obtaining his B.Sc. from York University in Toronto, Jason returned to Hong Kong in 1982. Armed with nothing but the determination to get ahead, he plunged into the family bicycle business, full time. Through the years, with the help of his brothers, the enterprise kept on expanding from strength to strength.

LAI Kwok Yan, Edward, graduate of 1969, used to be an active student leader at SJACS. After a long and distinguished career with the Hong Kong Government, he is this year retiring as head of Vegetable Marketing Organization and Fish Marketing Organization. In his honor, Matthias Li (’72) hosted a lunch party on May 16, with Andrew Li (’72), Daniel Li (’72), Gary Leung (’80) and Ng Man Kin (’81) also present.

Dear Fellow Josephians, 25 years ago today, our beloved Rev. Brother Paul Sun departed from us, leaving his legacy and his love in our hearts; his ideals in educating us with Christian Faith and the Chinese traditional value of 仁愛. We pride ourselves as his students, not necessarily his best but among one of his otherwise deprived if we did not have his care and love; and some of us also, as his teaching staff, whom Brother Paul had provided a chance to stage for further studies and pursuit for alternative career interests.

In recent months the Association has been directing efforts to boost or rekindle the Josephian Family Spirit among old boys both here and overseas. On 7th March 2011, the Josephian Association elected its chief office-bearers. Prior to this date, statements from the various candidates had been posted on this website, giving Josephians a good appreciation of candidates’ commitments if elected. It was a well attended occasion with carefully executed procedures. Before votes were cast, all candidates were asked to give verbal presentations as well as answer questions from the floor. Many positions were hotly contested.

To benefit the Rev. Bro. Paul Sun Education Foundation, the Speakers’ Forum 2010-11 is a fund-raising program featuring a series of 4 quarterly charity dinner events. The first one was held on Wednesday, 29 Sep 2010, at the Hong Kong Football Club.
Thanks to our sponsors and supporters, nearly all seats were sold before the event. The excellent weather on the day made sure we had a full-house. Guests started to arrive even before the commencement time down on the program. Matthias Li (Chair of the Forum) and other Trustees of the Foundation were on hand to greet our guests and make them welcome.

Recently, we heard from WONG, Hon-sum Philip (黃漢森) of the Class of ’77. Having attended SJACS from P.1 to F.5, Philip is, of course, a true-blue Josephian through and through. Philip used to be an active organizer of the SJACS Old Boys Association back in the late 70's and this is all the more reason to welcome Philip back in our folds.

In the afternoon of Friday, Aug 20, Andrew Li Chi Sheung ('72) and Rino Lam Lok Fu ('90) on the Board of the Josephian Association visited the building site of our new school building, at the invitation of Principal Paul Yeung. The new building is almost finished and is getting ready for an official handover.

This year’s SJACS Graduation Ceremony took place on Friday, Jun 4. It was, in fact, a special occasion, being the last graduation held on the old campus. All present were impressed by the entire program conducted throughout in English of a high standard. This is especially important at a time when we are striving to increase English language proficiency for the entire school and to present to parents our school once again as a SCHOOL OF CHOICE.

After much careful preparation and thanks to the co-operation of the School, our Mentor Scheme officially launched its first trial program on 21st November 2009. In our first year, we have received excellent support and response, successfully enrolling some 19 Mentors and 38 students (in F.5).
