In the afternoon of Friday, Aug 20, Andrew Li Chi Sheung ('72) and Rino Lam Lok Fu ('90) on the Board of the Josephian Association visited the building site of our new school building, at the invitation of Principal Paul Yeung. The new building is almost finished and is getting ready for an official handover.
It was, of course, an excellent opportunity to get a first-hand impression for reporting to all Josephians, since we have heard so much about the new building in the past months, and we are raising funds to pay for part of the renovation budget. We donned our hard-hats and went through all the rooms on every floor. Our impression is the grounds and space is certainly much larger than the old place, although what one actually gets might not exactly match one’s expectation. We find, for example, the hall is probably no larger than the old one. However, there is no doubt what we are getting is far superior to the old school building.
It was a warm sunny day but we were pleasantly surprised that there was a cool breeze passing where we are. If this is what we normal get sitting high on the hill there, it is a great blessing – nice Fung Shui, one might say. We certainly did get a comfortable feeling during our short stay on the premises, despite the heat.
Our main interest, no doubt, was on: (1) where our statue of Bro. Paul Sun should be placed; and (2) which room will be assigned for use by the alumni. We have spotted a suitable spot by the stairs, overlooking the main entrance and will be bringing this up for discussion in our next Board meeting on Sep 6. As for our room, well, Principal Yeung was far too taken up by his heavy agenda to fit in this subject. And so, regrettably, this will have to wait.
We are given to believe that the handover will take place soon, followed by renovation and equipment installation. After the X’mas break, students will start going to the new school. Our statue of Bro. Paul Sun will be made ready to dovetail with this timetable.
