Events and Activities - BBQ at Whitehead Club

On Sunday, 27th September 2009 the Association held a barbeque at the Whitehead Club, Sai Kung. Our earlier reservation was cancelled due to bad weather. However, this time our event was blessed with good weather. Despite the usually somewhat oppressive heat and humidity in summer for Hong Kong, on this particular Sunday afternoon the sun was not strong and there was a nice breeze, almost perfect for our activity.

Our lead event organizer, Prof. Randy Chiu, was on the site right early to greet fellow alumni and families. Participants rolled up gradually, do their catching up over a nice BBQ and some cool drinks, and retire at their leisure. As free golf practice at the driving range there was part of the program, many had a go and worked up a good sweat. The BBQ went well into the evening, with a suckling piglet as the main attraction of the evening. How nice, indeed!

The small gathering was pleasantly entertained by alumnus Chan Wan Hoi (陳雲海, SJACS'89), who is an author, columnist and radio personality delving in the world of the spiritual and the macabre (www.wanhoi.com). That is always an interesting topic for many, especially the ladies.

Plenty of BBQ meats were left despite the Herculean efforts of the remaining party. President Peter Yeung thanked Randy for organizing a successful party.

It was close to 9 p.m. when we eventually bid each other farewell and said goodbye to Whitehead.
