Events and Activities - Foundation Dinner Events at Ocean Park (14th and 22nd July 2011)
FOUNDATION DINNER EVENTS AT OCEAN PARK (14th and 22nd JULY 2011)

Report filed by Matthias Li (’72)

On July 14 and 24, the Brother Paul Sun Education Foundation organized two fund raising dinners at the private dining room of Ocean Park's Neptune Restaurant, which is inside the Park's new Grand Aquarium.

The response from our alumni and their family members was exceptionally strong. Despite its limited capacity of two banquet tables with 12 seats each, the private room is a truly VIP venue, with a huge window from floor to ceiling facing the aquarium, giving an unobstructed view of the marine life inside. Not surprisingly, each gathering was oversubscribed. The alumni attending these two functions ranged from graduates in the 60's to the 2000's, and many brought along their spouses and kids, in the Josephian family spirit.

Additional to an excellent menu with outstanding wines brought along by our alumni for sharing, all of the participants were amazed with the experience of having dinner together with sharks, rays, tuna fish, turtles and many more different types of marine life passing by the tables. On the evening, all participants were also awed by the Park’s spectacular fire and water show, Symbio.

A number of the alumni and their family members were able to come to the Park earlier and join the guided tour of the newly opened attractions, which included Aqua City and Rainforest.

The Foundation should thank Peter Au Yeung (
75) for his exceptionally strong and dedicated promotion and organization efforts in rallying support from the alumni in joining these events. There is, indeed, a very special person that the Foundation should also thank. However, he would rather remain anonymous. This good brother of ours sponsored the cost of the two dinners, which amounts to $30,000. Each participant would simply have to make a donation of at least $600 to the Foundation and enjoy the tax deductible benefit as well. Total funds raised by the two dinner events amount to $40,600, and the Foundation wishes to thank all participants for their family spirit and generosity.

The Foundation would continue to organize more such activities in the future, and please stay tuned.
