Events and Activities - A Digital Pathway from Choi Shek Lane (18 Jun 2011)

A Digital Pathway from Choi Shek Lane

Many Josephians have roots that go back to primary school days attending St. Joseph’s Anglo-ChinesePrimary School. We are rightly proud of our SJACPS and would lend our every support to our young Josephians.

The School’s latest show held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui, was open to the public. Entitled “An Exhibition of Photographic Works of Josephians, A Digital Pathway from
Choi Shek Lane, Hong Kong heritage, 18-19 June 2011,” it showcased the works of SJACPS’s Cyber Ranger, a digital photography group in which Josephians aged between 8 and 11 are well trained in photo-shooting skills. Members of Cyber Ranger visited a number of historical buildings over many months and produced a collection of pictures that was shown on this occasion. Not only were their photographs impressive, Cyber Rangers also delighted everyone by actively approaching visitors to introduce their works.

Rev. Fr. Victor Grioni, the School Supervisor, presided over the award ceremony. At the invitation of Principal Kwok Wen, representatives of the Josephian Association turned up in force. Chan Wan Hoi (class of ‘89), a well-known radio talk show host, was the special guest to address the gathering. He fondly recounted his experience of bringing a camera to class one day, which everyone thought was a piece of toy. He even had a couple of faded old pictures of schoolmates to show everyone.

Other Josephians included Chairman Andrew Li, Vice Chair Anthony Mak, Treasurer Roger Lam, Secretary Sammy Lam, as well as Rino Lam and Stephen Chu. Lunch followed giving an opportunity to talk with Madam Li Choi Yin, Fancy, who will be taking over from Fr. Victor on 1 Sep.

The next function of SJACPS will be Speech Day, to be held on 30th June 2011.
