Events and Activities - SJACS 52nd Athletics Meet cum HK 2009 East Asian Games School Torch Relay

On a sunny morning on 9th October, the Josephian Association's representatives attended the School's 52nd Athletics Meet at the Wan Chai Sports Ground. It was a special occasion since the School also hosted an East Asian Games Torch Relay program sponsored by the SAR Government.

Many former teachers and alumni turned up to support this event. Joining the Guests of Honor headed by The Honorable Mr. Tsang Tak Shing (曾德成), Secretary for Home Affairs was alumnus Andrew Li (李志尚, SJACS'72), representing the Association. Masters of Ceremony included movie director, Kuk Tak Chiu (谷德昭, SJACS'83), who received a warm welcome from the stand. On top of speeches and presentation of medals, the highlight of the morning was the Relay of the East Asian Games Torch. Torch bearers included outstanding local athletes, SJACS former teachers, among them Mr. Yiu Kin Wah (姚建華老師), and alumni, among them Peter Yeung Wai Hung, President of the Association (楊偉雄, SJACS'75) and Peter Yeung Kong Hing (楊港興, SJACS'69).

To round off a very well executed program, singer and entertainer William Chan Wai Ting (陳偉霆, SJACS'03) gave an upbeat performance. His song and dance routine brought a great round of applause. William also gave thanks to the School, especially principal Paul Yeung, for supporting the Dance Society, a cradle for his later success as a professional artist. The event was covered by the local press and media. It is fair to say the whole program was nicely executed, reflecting the level of excellence that SJACS is capable of. Due credit must, however, go to Principal Paul Yeung, his staff and all Josephians. Congratulations, well done!
