Events and Activities - 2nd Coordinators' Gathering (7th May 2010)

2nd Monthly Gathering of Coordinators

Coordinators are now having regular gatherings on a monthly basis. Our 2nd get-together took place in the evening of Friday, May 7, at the Hong Kong Football Club, thanks again to Andrew Li, the convener of the Group.

The turnout was again excellent. It is worth mentioning Stephen Sheung (Coordinator of '01) brought along many of his classmates. That made the party all the merrier!

Besides Andrew, also on hand to greet the coordinators were Chairman, Peter Yeung, and Vice Chairman, Daniel Li.  The coordinators heard updates on our latest efforts to help young Josephians and the School, for example, the English Seminar held on April 27.

They were able to discuss ideas to help raise funds for the Rev. Bro. Paul Sun Education Foundation. The endowment's first project is to raise donations to help pay for the renovation of the new school building, to be opened later on in 2010. They heard the plan of Class of '72 to raise $50,000 to take the naming right of a classroom, naming it "Class of '72." It was thought if each year could do the same, then the result would be rather ideal.

They also learned about the Foundation's project called "Rev. Bro. Paul Sun Education Foundation Speakers' Forum 2010", chaired by Matthias Li (SJACS'72). The plan is to hold quarterly dinner events, each time having a prominent public figure as our key-note speaker. All funds raised will go to the Foundation. All thought it was an exciting as well as worthwhile project and agreed to support.

Anthony Mak (Director of Membership and Activities) went through some ideas on how to better organize the football club.  Football club coordinators, Johnny Yip (SJACS'87), Kenneth Ngai (SJACS'01) and many others stayed behind till late going over various proposals.

All in all, everyone enjoyed a relaxed evening over some wine and food. Meanwhile, the coordinators are eagerly looking forward to next month's gathering.
